Overall Directions and Optional Modifications for summer activities
Name Writing
- Your child should practice writing their name on the designated line or on the back of each project.
- If they are having difficulty remembering the order of the letters in their name, you can write it out for them to copy from.
- If they are having difficulty forming letters, you may write their name in a light colored marker or crayon (I recommend yellow if you have it) and they can trace.
- Children who are able, can write their name in lowercase letters with an uppercase initial letter. This will be easier for children who have been practicing this and are heading to Kindergarten in the fall.
- If your child is not going to K in the fall or having difficulty forming letters, they should use all uppercase letters.
Coloring
- For any projects that involve a coloring component upon completion, I encourage you to do this step. Following all directions given is important for all students to practice.
- You may use any coloring utensils that you have or that your child prefers (markers, crayons, colored pencils).
Cutting
- For any activities that require cutting, please use child sized scissors and supervise your child the entire time they are cutting.
- If your child is having difficulty cutting on the lines provided, use a marker to darken or widen the line.
Activity Materials
- You will regularly need these materials:
- Glue stick (liquid glue is only needed for the coral reef activity in week 3)
- Pencil only for name writing- you may also use a marker or crayon if you do not have a pencil
- crayons/ markers/ colored pencils
- Child size scissors
- Any other materials related to the activities will be attached to the activity papers or in your weekly envelope. Please detach everything for your child at the beginning of each activity.
You may provide as much assistance as needed during these activities. I will demonstrate the activity for each day. Please email me if you have any questions.
